ESI organizes off-piste safety sessions for its ski instructors

Like every winter, the International Ski School (ESI) organizes sessions on off-piste safety for its ski instructors.
The evolution in off-piste with a trained mountain professional is strongly recommended. The ESI organizes, in collaboration with ANENA and the PGHM of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, refresher courses for its instructors in different resorts of the French Alps.

Here are the many topics covered in the field:

- Off-piste progression strategies: Briefing of clients, evaluation of conditions/nivology, identification of dangerous terrain configurations, group progression instructions, etc.

- Avalanche rescue in autonomy: Exercises in the field. Observation of terrain clues. Exercises in searching for avalanche transceivers, probing and shoveling for burials, clearing, organization of the rescue. Responsibility and penal consequences in case of accident, etc.
